Transportation & Logistics 2030 represents a series of Delphi studies on the future of the industry. The first issue is a multi-faceted analysis of the ramifications of energy scarcity and its impact on the design of future supply chains. We examine how the cost of energy and emissions, changes in consumer behaviour and the evolution of transport modes are set to reshape supply chains.
Experts from 20 countries in 5 continents took part in a mulit-stage RealTime Delphi survey. Over a period of 6 weeks they discussed and assessed 18 thesis for probability of occurance, impact on the T&L industry and desirability.
T&L 2030 employs a methodology known as the Delphi technique. An innovative online version, the RealTime Delphi, was applied in our study with significant advantages for both surveyed experts and the monitoring team.
The future presents a number of opportunities for T&L operators. Some of these involve changing the way the company itself does business, while others suggest new possibilities for products and services, or even shifts in strategy that could ultimately transform the existing business model. Leaders in the T&L industry need to take action today to prepare for their success of tomorrow.
