Global transportation & logistics M&A analysis: Q2 2009

This quarter, the Intersections report takes a deeper look at China specifically, including the country’s rise as a major player in the global economy and transportation and logistics (T&L) industry, as well as the challenges and opportunities that exist for companies looking to do business in China.

The economic downturn continues to negatively impact deal activity and deal value in the T&L industry. The second quarter 2009 mergers and acquisitions analysis reports that deal activity during the first half of 2009 remained weak, far behind the pace of recent historically strong years. The interest continues to shift to smaller deals, including more minority stakes and modest acquisitions of remaining interest. Although the quarter was not rich in terms of overall M&A activity we note several interesting changes in the behavior of deal participants.
