PwC: Where do you see the software industry's growth coming from in the near future?
Natarajan: North America will continue to be our largest market (with 62 percent of revenues coming from this region). But, from the perspective of growth, India, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, some parts of Europe, Australia, and China (which is a very difficult market) are the key markets.
PwC: Does the rise of cloud computing as a way to deliver service help enable providers to reach new markets, such as in India?
Natarajan: There is a possibility of collaboration happening because of Internet distribution. For example, a few companies that do not have the ability to reach markets like India are now able to do that with the SaaS [software-as-a-service] model. Initially, they were required to have a physical presence to build a brand in India and develop a channel. But today with the SaaS model, it becomes a logical choice for us to collaborate by re-engineering the product and taking it to new and emerging markets and thereby creating opportunities for expansion and create entry barriers for others.
