Support fading for traditional data center outsourcing

Forty percent of the organisations currently outsourcing their data center management to third parties don't perceive that solution will be the best in three years, according to the 261 outsourcing respondents to the PwC IT Outsourcing and Cloud Computing Survey. While 45 percent say a traditional data center managed by a third party is the one best solution today, only 27 percent consider that approach will be the best by 2014. In response, one veteran outsourcing vendor told PwC that it would soon launch a cloud promotion campaign aimed at its current data center outsourcing clients. Meanwhile, a newcomer to the cloud-based IT outsourcing market promises to soon offer lower prices and greater flexibility to traditional IT outsourcing buyers.
