In March 2010 we released a report proposing a 100% renewable electricity vision and roadmap for Europe and North Africa by 2050. How is this progressing?
Together with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the International Institute for Applied System Analysis, we have released a new report which looks at whether the vision of 100% renewable electricity has moved closer or further away as a result of current and recent events and developments over the last 12 months.
Intended to support the wider debate in this area, ‘Moving towards 100% renewable electricity in Europe & North Africa by 2050’, examines five areas that are most critical to achieving progress. Through the lens of these five areas, the report then considers the impact of recent and current events.
The five areas considered critical for delivering progress towards a 100% renewable electricity outcome are:
- political leadership
- market structure
- investment climate
- planning and permitting, and
- technological progress
The report was launched at a debate in Brussels on 31 May 2011. Learn more about this event.
