A global response: At all levels

The PricewaterhouseCoopers organisation and its individual partners and staff have reacted with great speed and compassion in supporting relief efforts following natural disasters around the world. For example, the human misery caused by hurricanes in the US prompted PricewaterhouseCoopers partners and staff to make financial contributions, assist evacuees, and donate supplies to those in need. And following the Indian Ocean tsunami, the PricewaterhouseCoopers network of firms and its individual partners and staff donated more than USD$5 million to the International Red Cross and UNICEF.

At the same time, many individuals in PricewaterhouseCoopers firms offered practical assistance and immediate support to disaster victims. For example, in the days and weeks after the tsunami, Latha Ramamathan—a PricewaterhouseCoopers executive director based in Chennai, India—was joined by young colleague Vaibhav Kalia in helping rehabilitate four hard-hit villages in the southern Indian district of Nagapattinam.
