Hard times, more choices – A new framework to deliver 150,000 affordable homes
As the Government is proposing significant changes to affordable housing funding, alternative ways and new opportunities must be found to create more homes and dynamic communities.
Local authorities and housing associations are entering a more interdependent world on affordable housing provision. Both will be operating with far less public funding. The only way to deliver 150,000 new affordable by 2015 will be through a truly collaborative effort, with a genuine balance of risk and contribution on both sides to maximise opportunities and results.
L&Q, in collaboration with PwC, has developed this report which sets out how the very significant challenges to the affordable housing world inherent in the Government's plans can be addressed and the goal of strong, stable, mixed communities realised, despite the financial constraints.
