Applying the global methodology from the annual Cities of Opportunity report to the five Nordic capitals the result is that there is a huge potential in the Nordics. The Nordic capitals can be seen as a cluster of high performing attractive cities which show a strong potential for regional collaboration enabling them to compete globally. In that sense, the Nordics fare very well as a global region.
The Nordic capitals may compete between themselves on a regional level but they will need to collaborate to be successful on a global level against other cities and regions to gain businesses, investments and tourists. For the Nordics to be able to emerge as a globally relevant cluster for the future there is a real need of stronger vision, strategy and coordination between the Nordics countries, paired with a strong local (and interconnected) leadership to face the new global reality.
