Moira Elms

Moira Elms is PwC’s Brand and Communications leader, an appointment she took up on 1 July 2008. Prior to this, Moira was the U.K. Firm's Leader of Marketing, Business Development, Knowledge, Brand, and Communications for two years. She also served as U.K. Human Capital Leader from 2003 to 2006.

Moira joined Coopers and Lybrand, subsequently PricewaterhouseCoopers, in 1981 in Edinburgh and became a partner in the U.K. firm in 1993.

Moira's leadership qualities resulted in her appointment to the PwC U.K. Management Board as Human Capital leader in 2003. During her three year leadership, PwC U.K. was recognised as one of the U.K.’s Top 20 Big companies to work for. Between 2003 and 2007, the U.K Firm was recognised annually as the leading U.K. graduate employer, and Employer of the Year (Accountancy Age 2004). Moira also oversaw the launch of the PwC women’s network, which won the Opportunity Now Innovation Award in 2003.

In 2006, Moira took on the UK Management Board portfolio for Marketing, Communication and Business Development. She launched the ground-breaking “What Would You Like to Change” campaign, built a “one firm” PwC marketing, communications and business development community of over 400 professionals in the U.K. Firm, and launched a new programme to develop research and thought leadership.

Moira has made a significant impact on the issue of female leadership in business. PwC has formed the Gender Advisory Council (GAC), a pioneering international body that advises its Global CEO about gender diversity. Moira has been Chair of the GAC since 2006. Under her chairmanship, the GAC’s work has been instrumental in leading DiversityInc to name PwC one of only five “Top Global Diversity Companies” in June 2008.

In 2008, she was asked to join the advisory board of Opportunity Now, an organisation for employers who are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for women.
