Projects & programmes: Healthcare delivery

Symbols of health in West Bengal

As the member states and organisations that are part of Millennium Development Goals agreement are at pains to point out, access to basic health care for all is central to the poverty reduction programmes. This is especially true in West Bengal, where the secondary health sector is in particularly bad shape. And, while the government has made developing secondary level hospitals a priority, the question remains: how do you restore confidence in such a run-down sector? One answer is the deployment of an IEC strategy, which is a crucial tool for change.

Approach

Our Kolkata office measures the outcome of various health programmes, advises on health franchising, encourages dialogue between the authorities and the public, and mobilises the private sector in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Outcomes

We also created a logo that would serve as a "brand" for all State Health Systems facilities in West Bengal (see image at right).
