How do customers behave differently when purchasing in different retail sectors?

Highlights from our survey findings about shopping habits in the toys sector

  • Of those that shop from an out of country online retailer, 21% said they’d be likely to buy toys. Chile and Brazil shoppers were the most inclined to do so, at 30% each.   
  • 43% of toy shoppers preferred to research their purchases online, while 27% said they’d rather do it in store.     
  • 40% preferred to make these purchases in store, and 36% were happy to do it online (24% via PC, 5% via tablet and 6% via phone).  
  • 23% of toy shoppers said they had done no research before purchasing in that category – the highest number of any category. Shoppers from India were most likely to do research, as only 12% said they had not.       
  • 63% of shoppers in this category said they made at least some purchases online in the last year. 75% of China shoppers said they had made at least some, while only 51% of Australia shoppers said they had.   
  • 22% of the global sample said they had not purchased online in this category in the last 12 months. Only 10% of China shoppers said they had not.
