India - Certain workers now enjoy exemption from Indian social security

Global Watch ()

The Government of India recently brought relief to certain individuals from Singapore who are crossing borders to work in India. The Government made changes in the social security law such that these persons should not have an obligation to make Indian social security contributions. The exemption applies for residents or citizens of jurisdictions in which the Indian Government has entered into certain economic agreements. Why just workers from Singapore? Singapore is the only country that currently meets the required conditions.
