India - International workers from social security agreement countries can now withdraw provident funds early

Global Watch ()

The Indian Ministry of Labour and Employment (MLE) recently issued a notification which generally allows early withdrawal of provident fund money by all international workers (IWs) from countries in which India has a social security agreement (SSA) in force. IWs can now receive their provident fund money in their bank accounts or through their employers.  As a result, employers should review current and former Indian assignees for opportunities to claim these monies.
