Dr. Ronald Ling is PwC’s Managing Director, Healthcare and Asia Healthcare Leader based in Singapore. Dr. Ling’s mission is to further grow and develop PwC’s Asian healthcare practice while developing lasting relationships with our clients. He is also responsible for ensuring PwC’s professionals are leveraged to provide deep sector expertise which draws on our extensive global health network.
Dr. Ling has more than 20 years’ experience working with healthcare organisations in Asia and the UK as a medical practitioner and in a variety of strategic, operational, consulting and Board roles. He is therefore well positioned to engage clients across the entire healthcare value chain, and in assignments ranging from performance improvement and healthcare system redesign to corporate transactions.
Immediately prior to joining PwC, Dr. Ling was a Partner with Symphony Asia (formerly Schroder Capital Partners), a private equity firm with strong interests in healthcare. At Symphony he led healthcare deals across Asia through all phases of the investment cycle including evaluation, structuring, operational enhancement and exits, primarily in the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sectors.
Dr. Ling has been associated with Singapore-based Parkway Holdings over a period of 12 years, initially as Parkway’s head of Business Development and Planning then representing Schroders/Symphony as a controlling shareholder, including a period as a Board Director of Parkway Holdings. He has been closely involved with multiple projects at Parkway during this time, resulting in the transformation of the company from a family-run diversified enterprise into SE Asia’s premier private healthcare group.
Dr. Ling also spent five years working as a consultant with McKinsey & Co, based in London. During this period, he worked for a range of pharmaceutical and other multinational clients across Europe and the US. He was also involved in initial research work by McKinsey into the comparative productivity of healthcare systems in different countries.
Dr. Ling holds an MA degree (1st class) from Oxford University, an MBBS degree in Medicine from London University and an MBA from INSEAD Business School. His clinical medical experience comprises hospital practice in various hospitals in the UK National Health Service post-qualification.
