The Genesis Park experience —
What it is and why it's different
PwC's global leadership development programme, Genesis Park, turns top talent into future global leaders.
The Genesis Park approach to transforming talented individuals is unique. It takes individuals through real life experiences – not role-play – and examines how they react and resolve real issues. Innovative in its approach to the whole person, Genesis Park has an intense impact on individuals and delivers maximum benefit to PwC's Network.
To be considered for the programme, you have to be nominated by your territory leadership team. The main focus of the programme is a 10 week residential experience taking participants on a journey of personal transformation. You will address some of the most pressing strategic issues facing PwC's leadership today, and have to build real relationships to deal with the real challenges this presents.
You get real-time coaching at every stage of your journey so you can constantly improve and understand your strengths and weaknesses as a leader. The aim of the programme is to help you know how you lead.
It is intense. We make no apologies.
Why should I go on this leadership programme and not another?
Genesis Park is not about qualifications for leadership in theory. It’s designed to practically equip individuals for the future. It's about building real life experience and relationships for leadership in reality. And for that you need to be hands on from Day one. 10 weeks of real life problem solving gives you a chance to not only apply what you've learned, but also prove your individual skills as a real leader of the future - from teamwork and coaching, to deadlines and debates. You'll be equipped with the experience to lead as soon as you leave Genesis Park, and you'll establish real, long-lasting relationships with your team to support and inspire you as your career progresses.
What real issues will I have to solve?
Genesis Park presents you with some of the most pressing, strategic, and global issues facing PwC's leadership today. While the issues are PwC issues, they are also similar to the complex global issues PwC clients face. Working in small teams, you are thoroughly briefed on the challenge and then coached intensively while you work through it. It will be a strategic challenge rather than a technical challenge, such as, how does PwC enter a new market? You'll need to collaborate effectively not only with your teammates but also others within PwC as you prepare your recommendations to leadership.
What do you mean by real relationships?
Genesis Park’s goal is to help you grow as a leader, and as a person; a big part of which is relationship building. You'll be immersed in the experience for 10 weeks, and the relationships you form will be deep, lasting and significant for your future development-- intense relationships that will be valuable throughout your career, personally and professionally.
What kind of real challenges will I face?
Genesis Park is concentrated. Living at close quarters and working on a series of tough assignments for 10 weeks will challenge you physically, emotionally, professionally, and intellectually. It's designed to challenge the whole person. Meeting a series of demanding realities, you will become more creative, more innovative, and better able to think more broadly and deeply about your clients’ realities and wider personal, political and global realities. We don’t apologise for pushing you hard because it’s through this crucible experience that you will transform your ability to lead.
How will you guarantee my transformation?
We’re here to transform you into a real leader of the future: authentic, resilient and responsible; equipped to face future challenges; self-aware and with a strong understanding of how you'll lead based on your unique abilities and strengths. This transformation will come about as a result of many aspects of the programme. One of the areas of greatest impact is the intensive real-time coaching and candid feedback you'll receive. You’ll better understand yourself, how you relate to others and how you react to issues. We recommend that you bring your family with you if possible so that they can also participate and become part of this transformation.
What value does it create for PwC?
Participating in Genesis Park equips you to create real value throughout your professional life in how you serve clients, lead teams, and how you build PwC for the future. And this has a ripple effect in your home practice as well as across our network. As we accelerate your development and your transformation, you can deliver greater value earlier in your career. We help you to achieve the potential of your leadership capabilities.
