The European business initiative on taxation (EBIT)

The EBIT is a working group of tax directors from leading European-based companies formed in 2001 to address the challenge of modernising EU direct tax policy, and eliminating remaining tax barriers within the Internal Market.

Facilitated by PricewaterhouseCoopers, which acts as its secretariat, the EBIT combines technical cooperation with a constructive, fact-based dialogue with the European Commission, the OECD and national finance ministries—with the goal of raising awareness among European policymakers of the key tax issues affecting companies doing business in more than one Member State. These issues include:

  • Transfer pricing
  • Cross-border loss relief
  • Common consolidated corporate tax base (CCCTB)
  • European company
  • Reducing the tax compliance burden on European-based companies
