On March 16, 2011 the European Commission proposed a directive for a common system for calculating the tax base of businesses operating in the EU: the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB). This is a single set of rules that companies operating within the EU could opt to use when calculating their taxable profits.
