The system in peril
This report describes the risk outlook for the banking industry at the turn of the year 2012 – a time of unprecedented stress in the financial markets. The findings are based on responses from more than 700 bankers, regulators and close observers of the banking scene in 58 countries.
In the opinion of these respondents, the greatest threat facing the banking industry is the fragility of the world economy. If there is a return to recession, it is very likely that banks will suffer severe credit losses, and that more of them will fail or have to be nationalised
