I joined PwC to begin a career. That’s all, not because I had an interest in accounting. I was a graduate with no real direction, so to speak. I applied not expecting much, to be honest. I was in the middle of finals and times were tough, as I’m sure many of you reading this will understand. Thankfully, they took me on and offered me a job; I haven’t looked back since. The opportunities and paths I now have laid in front of me are endless.
I currently work towards membership of the ACCA. ‘More studying; more exams’ I hear you say. Yes, it is daunting; I was petrified by the thought of more exams and with the added task of trying to hold a steady job. The great thing about PwC though, is the help and time given to graduates in making the process as comfortable and ‘easy’ as possible. A lot is invested into professional training. The people I work with are an invaluable source of help and knowledge. Without their help, completing any form of professional qualification would be made that much harder.
I work in the Accounting department, and have been since September 2008. In this relatively short time, I have gained a great understanding of the world of business. My work covers all basic principles of accounting and has seen me work closely with clients out of the office. But it’s not just the knowledge you gain through your work but the people you meet in the process. Meeting clients is one of the perks of the job and there are some great characters out there.
On a social level, I have befriended many whilst working here. Events, organised by PwC, provide for great opportunities to meet new people and build new relationships with colleagues.
Working here truly is a fantastic experience.
