Joe Bailey


Joe Bailey is the national tax leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers' (PwC) law firm services practice. He has worked on law firm tax matters for over 20 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Joe also is one of PwC’s global technical resources on law firm-related tax matters. Presently, Joe provides or coordinates a full range of tax consulting services to PwC law firm clients on domestic (federal and state) and international tax matters.

Since 1989, Joe has been a co-author of Law Firm Accounting and Financial Management published by Law Journals Seminars-Press. He is the author of articles published in American Lawyer, Accounting and Financial Planning for Law Firms, Law Firm Inc., and The CPA Journal. He is also responsible for the Law Firm Tax Services (LiFTS) memoranda that are issued on technical tax matters affecting law firms.

Over the years, Joe has spoken at various organized forums including several times in London, England to UK-based law firms, at the International Bar Association meeting in Durban, South Africa, at New York law firm accounting and financial management seminars sponsored by the New York Law Seminars-Press, at LawNet 2000, and at various law firm specialty group meetings in the US and abroad.

Joe earned an MS in Taxation at DePaul University.


David Gaulin


David Gaulin is the national assurance leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers' law firm services practice. He has been with the firm for 18 years. In conjunction with this role, David is asked to consult on a national basis with regard to auditing and accounting issues for law firms. In addition to his many law firm clients, David has also directed audits of service organizations, manufacturing, retail and distribution organizations.

David is a Certified Public Accountant in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

David is a co-author of Law Firm Accounting and Financial Management published by Law Journals Seminars-Press. In addition, David regularly sponsors law-firm related events and hosts roundtables throughout the year on various topics that are critical to managing a successful law firm. Over the years, David has spoken at several national law firm events. Most recently David spoke around the measures law firms are taking around risk management and strategies for growth and staying competitive in today's environment at the Legal CFO Forum in New York City and at the LFI Expo in San Diego.

David graduated with an MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo.


Stanley Kolodziejczak


Experience:


Stanley is Co-Chair of the Law Firm Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and has over twenty five years of business, tax and accounting experience. Stanley’s current experience is working with law firms that are facing the challenges of growth in a changing global market. Stanley's experience includes helping law firms establish operations in new jurisdictions, assisting with compensation policies, optimization of structure and all aspects of tax reporting and compliance. Stanley regularly assists firms considering the challenges and opportunities of mergers and acquisitions. Most recently, Stanley has authored the fourth edition of Law Firm Accounting and Financial Management.

Stanley started his career in industry, working as an inventory accountant for Warner Communications and an assistant controller for Nabisco Brands. In 1984, Stanley joined the public accounting profession. For a short time after receiving his law degree in 1990, Stanley practiced with GE Capital but quickly returned to public accounting. Joining Price Waterhouse in 1992, Stanley has been involved with many of the PricewaterhouseCoopers’ largest clients. Stanley had responsibility for the Tax Merger and Acquisition practice in Philadelphia and from November 2000 to 2002 was responsible for the Philadelphia Tax practice of 32 Partners and 300 professionals. From 2002 to 2003, Stanley had national responsibilities working with some of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ largest engagement teams in developing client service plans.

Stanley has served a wide variety of professional service firms, including law firms, human resource groups and computer consulting companies. His clients are both U.S. based firms operating abroad and non-US based firms operating in the US.

Professional affiliations:


Stanley is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as a Certified Management Accountant. Stanley is a member of the American and New Jersey Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the American and Philadelphia Bar Associations.

Education:


Stanley received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rutgers in 1984 and his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers in 1990. Stanley went on to receive his Masters in Law in Taxation from New York University in 1994.
