PricewaterhouseCoopers has a Global Human Resource Services group with approximately 6,000 practitioners who work with companies in aligning a company’s HR strategy with their overall business performance by managing the operational and compliance challenges associated with human resources. We work closely with clients to offer multi-disciplinary solutions that strive to make their people a sustainable source of competitive advantage.

Uganda has a team of human resource specialists who in conjunction with the regional and global network of PricewaterhouseCoopers provide unparalleled advice in human resource management issues.

Our advice covers several areas as follows:

Total Compensation Services - Providing Design and Implementation Support for Compensation Strategies

Companies must balance many trade-offs when creating and managing a total compensation program. Employees demand to be compensated competitively. Management needs compensation strategies that support strategic objectives, and aid in recruitment, motivation, and retention of top talent. On top of it all, the regulatory environment surrounding total compensation programs is rapidly changing. Whether your business operates in a single country or many countries, PricewaterhouseCoopers, with our international reach, is uniquely positioned to work with you to develop competitive, effective total reward programs on a local and international basis.

On top of carrying out commissioned reward surveys, job evaluation using the widely used Paterson system and the designing of reward structures based on global best practice, we also run a HR Survey Club comprising of 25 companies that are all leading employers in the oil, financial services, telecommunications and manufacturing sectors of the country. From this annual survey of the 25 club members, PricewaterhouseCoopers produces a report covering current market compensation levels as well as practices. This report also forms what is the most comprehensive database of market remuneration levels in Uganda currently.

Health Checks

A health check is an audit of existing practices and the identification of limitations, opportunities and barriers. It is often a result of one of the following triggers:

Mergers and acquisitions

  • Benchmarking
  • Due diligence
  • Inequities, anomalies and low morale
  • Alignment with new legislation
  • Culture development
  • High staff turnover
  • Demotivated people
  • Poor performance

Our Human resource services team is well equipped with the skills that are required to carry out health checks and make recommendations on what the organisation needs to do for purposes of optimizing its human resource potential.

Organisation design and restructuring

In conjunction with our regional and global resources, PricewaterhouseCoopers Uganda has a team of specialists in organisation design and restructuring who provide the required advice as companies go about restructuring their operations in a bid to optimize their human resource potential.
