Appraisal Values

Mergers and acquisitions require effective understanding of company value.

Increased competition and a desire for growth has led to an increasing number of acquisitions and merger activities, resulting in the requirement for specialist work in the calculation of company valuations. This trend will continue as Asia continues to liberalise its foreign ownership criteria.

Furthermore, an increasing number of local companies include embedded values or appraisal values in their accounts via either service company arrangements or ownership of other life companies.

PricewaterhouseCoopers provides independent advice on valuations, assumptions and methodology and can also develop the required complex projection capability using state of the art software held under license.

In those jurisdictions where realistic liability methods have not yet been adopted, there is a need to provide actuarial advice to companies on the adequacy of their reserving and ultimately their long term viability. The techniques used for valuation can be adapted to provide this.
