Solutions offered
Our FLS professionals provide a range of services and solutions which can be tailored to meet client needs. The services we provide include the following:

Economic Crime Risk management
Controls are not enough, culture makes the difference
The existence of controls alone does not equate to more prevention and detection of fraud. Controls can be circumvented when there is enough motivation for one to do so. Prevention and detection systems need to be supported by a strong ethical culture that is driven by directors and management. They must set the right tone from the top and seen to be ‘walking the talk”. Preventive measures should be proactive, not reactive.
PwC believes that an effective economic crime risk management framework should be embedded in a company’s enterprise-wide risk management programme to ensure it is in line with the company’s policies and procedures, and supports its vision and business objectives.

Our FLS professionals works with our corporate clients to develop a robust economic crime risk management framework in which:
  • Oganisational values, ethics and behavioural expectations are known, clearly communicated and alive in the organisation.
  • Major risks, including fraud risk are identified, assessed, actively managed and mitigated.
  • Adequate culture, process and technology controls are in place to ensure detection of potential fraudulent activities.
  • Clear guidance/a process for reporting concerns and measures to address them are provided.

Forensic Accounting/Investigation
Finding Facts and Evidence
Fraud is highly complex and difficult to unravel. Fraud investigation requires knowledge, speed, sensitivity and discretion. We recognise the importance of reacting quickly and with confidentiality in a crisis to safeguard your organisation’s assets, with as little disruption as possible to the regular flow of business.
Our FLS team combines their forensic accounting skills and investigative nature to: review complex accounting systems; unravel complex financial transactions involving potentially false accounting, misappropriation of funds and asset stripping; and reconstruct financial statements.

Computer Forensics
Unlocking Digital Fingerprints
Increasingly, companies are storing their data electronically. However, computers are frequently used in fraudulent activities as they contain a wealth of valuable evidence and information, i.e. the ‘digital finger print’ of the fraudster.
Examination of electronic evidence must be in accordance with structured computer forensic methodologies and undertaken by experts to ensure that evidence obtained is legally admissible.
Our computer forensics team has the experience and necessary IT tools needed to identify, collect, analyse and manage electronic information and evidence that is present in computer systems or storage media which are relevant to an investigation.

Litigation Support
Winning Disputes
To ensure fair and equitable solutions of disputes, objectivity and credibility are essential.
Our FLS professionals provide independent and objective financial advice to lawyers, clients as well as individuals involved in litigation, arbitration or mediation.
Our team members can make a real difference in the outcome of financial disputes by providing analysis of liability and damages by isolating issues in contention, gathering financial data, reconstructing financial information and quantifying exposure/damages

Regulatory Compliance
Conducting Business Ethically
Companies who have a presence in transitional and developing countries frequently face unfamiliar cultural and legal requirements, and foreign governments where lines between official and non-official statuses are not always evident. Non-compliance in such jurisdictions can expose a company to unforeseen risk, and civil and criminal penalties.
We provide confidential global resources to assist organisations with implementing and/or assessing regulatory compliance programmemes as well as supporting companies that may be subject to regulatory investigation such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Licensing Management
Enhancing Revenue
We work with clients to enhance revenue streams and manage risk by examining compliance with licensing and franchising agreements.
With an integrated network of licensing professionals across Asia as well as the globe, our practice is unique as we employ forensic accountants, investigators and licensing professionals. Our unique blend of forensic accounting skills and industry knowledge enables us to quickly identify shortfalls in royalties that clients should receive.
