Case Study - Dispute Resolution

In the area of audit and dispute resolution, we have assisted many of our clients negotiate favourable outcomes with the ATO. In one instance, the ATO had assessed one of our clients in the transport industry with a GST liability of $700,000 plus penalties and a general interest charge. Through discussions and representations to the ATO, the final GST liability was reduced by almost $600,000 with a remission of penalties and interest also achieved. With the ATO audit over, and the ATO agreeing to treat the client as a low risk and compliant taxpayer going forward, we are now assisting our client implement strategies for minimising GST risks, improving overall compliance and building relationships with the ATO.
