Latin America’s pharmaceuticals market is a fraction of the size of the US market and will probably never grow very large. But the Argentine and Brazilian economies are recovering; Mexico is developing a good manufacturing base; and the number of clinical trials conducted in the region has risen tenfold since 2000. In short, despite its political and economic troubles, Latin America is becoming much more appealing as a place in which to conduct development and production.
