The Rising Elephant: Benefits of Modern Trade to Indian Economy

The Rising Elephant: Benefits of Modern Trade to Indian Economy is an evidence based empirical study, seeking to establish how other transitional economies have benefited from modern trade and what implications modern trade would have on the Indian economy. The study identifies increased employment, efficiency in agriculture and increased exports through sourcing from India, to be the three most significant benefits of modern trade, and urges the Government to expedite legislative reforms including opening up the sector to FDI as one of the key catalysts required for the sector to achieve its true potential.
