Part 4: With stable economies and solid medical credentials, the new Central and Eastern European members of the European Union look promising places for development and manufacturing
The Central and Eastern European members of the EU do not represent huge new markets
for the pharmaceutical industry, despite relatively high growth in recent years. But they
have now overcome many of the problems they faced when the Iron Curtain came down.
They have stable economies and a large pool of highly qualified healthcare professionals.
Some countries have also been actively rebuilding scientific bases that were decimated
during the transition from Communism. So the region is becoming an increasingly
attractive place in which to carry out pharmaceutical development and manufacturing.
