Each year at Davos, Switzerland, prominent individuals from the worlds of business, religion, government, as well as cultural and society leaders meet—under the auspices of the World Economic Forum—"to debate the difficult global challenges of our planet, identify emerging risks and ways to address them". Over 2,500 people attend the annual meeting, a demanding five-day programme that centres on critical global, regional and industry issues.

To help participants prepare for their meetings, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) assembles a briefing pack called "Shaping the debate", which provides essays that draw attention to current thinking, compare diverse perspectives, and offer important data for the main topics of the programme. During the Forum, this material is made available via KnowledgeConcierge, an interactive Web site open only to participants at Davos.

To expose a broader audience to this material, we have made "Shaping the debate" available to the public. Many of the topics featured in the pack are of interest to our clients and stakeholders. They include the climate change, corporate governance, energy security, globalisation, international terrorism, the rise of Asia, societal shifts, and trade, amongst many others.

An archive of the 2007 booklet is also available.
