The international tax structuring team within PwC Ireland is based mainly in the Dublin office and is part of PwC’s international tax structuring network, a network of international tax practitioners in PwC’s global tax practice. We provide services to companies operating cross border. Together with our colleagues in other European jurisdictions, in the US and around the globe, we assist multinational groups implement strategies to optimise tax rates and liabilities. Our services include advice on inbound and outbound structuring, managing intellectual property, EU tax law, the use of holding companies, cross border financing and treasury solutions and profit repatriation. We bring a broad range of commercial skills to the tax issues raised by our clients.
This is a small and specialised network within PwC Ireland (about 25 people in total) which aims to bring innovative tax advice to clients doing business internationally. Our work is often completed under tight turn-around deadlines and our clients come from all sectors and from a wide range of source countries.
The Role:
As a Tax Director within our IPS group, reporting to the Tax Partners, the successful candidate will have a key role in our business; managing existing relationships both with clients and with the PwC international tax structuring network and developing new ones with a high level of autonomy to a range of multi-national companies, typically large and complex multinational publicly listed entities. As a Director the successful candidate will also have direct responsibility for the management and development of a team of tax professionals.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of clients.
- Run significant client engagements in the area of international tax structuring issues involving Ireland.
- Advising on and implementing reorganisations, intellectual property based planning and intra-group financing structures.
- Leading cross border mergers and acquisitions and optimising tax advantages and opportunities for a range of cross border activities
- Providing a strategic and tactical input into the development of PwC’s relationship with the client.
- Working as part of a multinational PwC team to devise and implement a global solution to our clients tax issues – these could arise from an acquisition or disposal, group reorganisation or changes in international tax law. This will involve a high level of interaction with offices in the PwC international network .
- Direct responsibility for the management of a diverse team of tax professionals including staff development and performance management.
- Researching and implementing new products and services in the international tax area.
- Sharing knowledge skills and experience
- Participation in non-client projects and events
Education / Professional Qualifications:
- AITI / ACA or other relevant third level accounting qualification
Experience Required
- 8+ years experience in an international tax role.
- Ability to present complex issues in a comprehensible manner.
- Experience in cross border international tax planning, finance based structures, intellectual property planning, business modelling, mergers & acquisitions and foreign direct investment.
- Experience managing tax affairs of large multinationals both in Ireland and foreign jurisdictions.

- Excellent delegation skills and a proven ability to manage and develop junior members of the team by setting the example, to drive the business forward.
