An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Financial Accountant, a high profile role within the firm that also offers significant exposure to key decision makers at some of our most important clients.
The Role:
The successful candidate will join a team of professionals within a specialist unit dealing with the accounting, valuation and risk implications of complex financial and derivative instruments.
Day to day the successful candidate will work primarily on the accounting treatment for complex or unique financial instruments, advising clients and audit teams on technical accounting areas, such as:
- Hedge accounting - proactive advice on hedge structuring, designation and effectiveness testing.
- Embedded derivatives – identify derivatives and determine appropriate action.
- Revenue Recognition - effective interest rate calculations and inter-period allocation.
The successful candidate will also assist with wider group activities, such as, valuation and risk issues and corporate treasury reviews.
This is an ideal opportunity for a financial services accountant looking to develop their knowledge of the technical aspects of a wide range of capital markets products. Recent engagements have included interest rate, credit, foreign exchange, commodity and equity instruments
Candidate Profile:
The position is open to qualified financial accountants with min 2 years PQE (ideally with experience of Banking & Capital Markets) who are quantitatively minded with strong technical accounting skills.
- Previous experience of financial and derivative products will be a distinction advantage.
- Experience of IAS 39 or equivalent (FAS 133, FRS 26)
- Advanced IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- The ideal candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills as the role demands significant interaction with colleagues and clients.
