The Stamp Duty team sits within t he CIP ( Consumer Industrial Products) group, and is a specialist team managing Stamp duty issues for a cross sector of clients. The CIP group is the largest group in the Tax and Legal Services Department and provides tax and legal services to Irish plcs, major multinational corporations, semi-State organisations and a variety of significant privately owned Irish companies. Our clients operate in a large range of different industries such as retail and consumer, pharmaceuticals, engineering and construction, food, energy and utilities. This broad base provides our team with challenging and rewarding portfolio.
The Role:
As a Manager in our Stamp Duty Group the successful candidate will provide high quality stamp duty advice to Irish plcs, major multinational corporations, semi-state organisations, privately owned Irish companies and high net worth individuals. The work will be varied and challenging and will include advising on major group reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, de-mergers, significant property acquisitions, tax-based property investments and numerous other commercial transactions entered into by our blue-chip clients.
Responsibilities:
- Researching and resolving technical stamp duty issues
- Reviewing the work of junior team members to ensure quality, thoroughness and completion of assignment tasks within agreed timeframes
- Assisting the Partner / Senior Manager in developing and growing the business and participating in the development of new products and services
- Taking active responsibility on delegated work for larger client portfolios.
- Managing self and others around to ensure deadlines are met.
- Sharing knowledge skills and experience and developing junior team members.
Education / Professional Qualifications:
- Primary degree
- AITI or qualified solicitor / barrister
Experience Required:
- Currently working at Manager level in a top ten accountancy or legal firm
- At least 3 years experience working full-time or predominantly in stamp duty and dealing with challenging stamp duty issues
Skills and Personal Qualities:
- An excellent knowledge of Irish stamp duty law and practice
- Client focus and strong commercial awareness
- Excellent communication and business presentation skills
- Willingness and desire to take ownership and responsibility, to show initiative and to drive projects to completion
- Ability to prioritise and capable of delivering within tight deadlines
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team
- Good delegation skills and an ability to manage and develop junior members of the team
- Good motivator
- Exposure to domestic and international clients
