PwC’s VAT group is part of Ireland’s leading and largest Indirect Tax practice and provides a comprehensive range of VAT services including; high-end VAT advisory and consulting services, VAT risk management and audit defence and VAT training and compliance services to Irish plcs, major multinational corporations, semi-State organisations and a variety of significant privately owned Irish companies.

Our clients operate in a large range of different industries such as financial services, technology, retail and consumer, pharmaceuticals, construction, communications, food, entertainment, energy and utilities. This broad base provides our team with challenging and rewarding portfolios.

The Irish VAT group is a member of the PwC Indirect Tax Network which has about 1500 indirect tax specialists working in over 100 countries. To meet business needs, we work with our colleagues in the network, interacting with each other constantly on multi-jurisdictional projects. The network provides us with an immense group of experts for assistance with our many global and regional projects.

The Role:

As a Senior Manager you will be expected to manage a portfolio of significant existing clients and develop new client relationships, with direct responsibility for providing VAT services and high-end solutions. There will be a high level of interaction with offices in the PwC international network.

You will work on significant engagements day-to-day with a high degree of autonomy and provide strategic and tactical input into the development of PwC’s relationship with the client.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of VAT clients to include Irish subsidiaries of multinationals and Irish-owned multinationals.
  • Working as part of a team on some of PwC’s largest clients. Your work will often require co-ordination of all tax services from PwC Ireland and/or VAT services from a number of different countries. As a result, it will involve a high level of interaction with offices in the PwC international network, ensuring that the client’s strategic objectives are understood and satisfied appropriately.
  • Developing and maintaining solid business relationships.
  • Developing and maintaining new products and services.
  • Participation in business development and non-client projects and events.
  • Sharing knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Management of a team of tax professionals including staff development and performance management.

Education / Professional Qualifications:

  • CTA / AITI / ACA or other relevant professional qualification would be desirable.

Experience, Skills and Personal Qualities:

  • 6+ years experience as a VAT professional in Practice, Industry or a national Revenue authority.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Client focused.
  • Willingness and desire to take ownership and responsibility, to show initiative and to drive projects to completion.
  • Proven ability to lead and work as part of a team in the delivery of demanding client service.
  • Ability to prioritise and capable of delivering within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to manage and develop junior members of the team.
  • Good motivator.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
