Knowledge saves lives - First Aid courses for the PwC staff

PRESS RELEASE
31 May 2007

Unexpected and unanticipated situations are often in the centre of our everyday lives. Situations that appear to be manageable and well-planned often evolve in a way that is different from what expected, both for us and our fellow-men.

We are often faced with situations which make us feel helpless and unable to ease the human pain. In situations like this our immediate reaction and ability to offer assistance is not just a matter of willingness but also a matter of knowledge and sobriety.

PricewaterhouseCoopers believes that modern organisations should be responsive towards the needs of our society. In this respect, PwC has organised first aid training courses for members of its staff, to enable them to immediately respond and help their fellow-men both within and outside the work environment. The organisation has already purchased of defibrillators which, in combination with relevant knowledge of first aid, can save lives in cases of heart problems.

The ceremony for awarding the diplomas to members of the staff, who participated in the first aid courses, took place on 30 May 2007. Tassos Televantides, Deputy Managing Partner of PwC mentioned in his speech that “For PwC, an organisation with a strong focus on its people, distinction and contribution are of great importance, not just in our professional but also in our social lives. For us, it is important to know that we can depend on people, who are willing to contribute to the community as a whole”.
