PwC India celebrates 125th birthday with a global center at Salt Lake


Buddhadeb Bhattarcharjee dedicates 100,000-sq-ft facility to the nation

Kolkata, 7 December, 2005- PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the world’s largest professional services firm, is celebrating its 125th year of existence in India by setting up a 100,000-square-feet state-of-the-art facility at the Salt Lake Electronics Complex near Kolkata. PwC’s Indian operations had started from Kolkata in 1880.

The facility, which was dedicated to the nation by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadev Bhattacharjee on December 7, 2005, would house PwC’s global training center and is expected to provide employment to more than 1000 people. It would also be the hub of the firm’s Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) activities. Plans are also to deploy a global service delivery model at this center.

The center is equipped with the latest technological facilities in accordance with PwC’s international best practices. For instance, the data center has a fully redundant design architecture with negligible single point of failure possibility to provide a highly reliable setup that ensures complete data security and business continuity.

The data center, which is at the heart of the facility, is further protected with the latest biometrics technology. A wireless LAN capability within the building ensures complete mobility of the workforce who can connect from any part of the facility. The center is also equipped with world-class presentation facilities using the most modern display devices and high precision rear projection system, which will provide a unique experience to any visitor. Focus is not just on creating a global work-sphere, but also on providing employee entertainment. A sophisticated gym has been created to let employees stay physically agile as well.

It has eight offices in India, located at Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar and Pune.
