A new partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Lithuania

On 1 July 2001, Chris Butler became a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Lithuania, where he joins Cameron G. Greaves, Territory Senior Partner and Tax and Legal Services Leader for the Baltic States.

Chris Butler will now be responsible for Assurance and Business Advisory Services and Corporate Finance in Lithuania. Chris moved to Vilnius in 1997 and has spent much of his time working with clients in the financial services sector although today he works with clients across all industries.

Cameron G. Greaves, PricewaterhouseCoopers' Territory Senior Partner, said:

"This is a significant achievement of both Chris and the Lithuanian firm. Admission to partnership recognises Chris' outstanding contribution to the development of the practice in Lithuania over the last four years."

Chris graduated from Oxford University in 1989 and joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in London immediately afterwards. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and shortly thereafter became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

In 1994, he first visited Lithuania on a project to assist the Lithuanian Savings Bank and was promoted to the position of audit manager in the same year. This project aroused his interest in the Baltic region and at his own request he transferred to Riga in 1995, to help with the growth of PricewaterhouseCoopers practice there. Two years later he moved to Vilnius.

In his spare time, Chris plays rugby and has helped to set up the British Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania. He and his wife, Jolanta, have made their home in Vilnius and their pleasure at Chris' promotion was enhanced by the birth of their first child, a son, on 29 June 2001.

When interviewed Chris said:

"You could certainly say that everything is happening at the moment and life, which is never dull, has become even more exciting!"
