PricewaterhouseCoopers wins the “India Tax Firm of the Year” Award

NEW DELHI, 27 November 2007PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been named "India Tax Firm of the Year" by International Tax Review (ITR). The awards were presented to Dinesh Kanabar, tax leader and Shyamal Mukherjee, deputy tax leader of the PwC India firm, at the ITR Asia Tax Awards Ceremony in Hong Kong, on 26 November 2007.

Speaking on the occasion Dinesh said, "We are delighted to receive this award. It is a reflection of the successful merger of RSM with PwC, and of the team having leveraged the synergies to grow and excel in the fast growing Indian market place.” He added, “Clients require innovative solutions and proactive responses, supported by in-depth understanding of their business processes. PwC also won the "Asia Tax Firm of the Year” along with host of other awards including the Tax Firm of the year award in China and South Korea, the Transfer Pricing Tax Firm of the Year for Thailand, and the Editors Special Tax Contribution Award. The awards, launched by ITR, a world-renowned magazine focusing on international tax strategy, resulted in leading firms from over 10 Asian countries competing in various categories. These awards recognise PwC's depth of specialised resources and experience in the tax and regulatory services domain.

    In August 2007, International Tax Review sent submission forms to law firms and tax advisory firms, asking them to send a minimum of three examples each of their best work in tax transactions, litigation and transfer pricing for the period from July 31 2006 to July 31 2007.

      International Tax Review's editorial staff considered these submissions and the information obtained through face-to-face and telephone interviews with tax directors, as well as peer interviews, for World Tax 2008, to compile shortlists and choose winners for each of the country and regional awards.
