PricewaterhouseCoopers has today announced the formation and commencement of Australia’s largest multi-disciplinary partnership (MDP) allowing the seamless provision of both legal and non-legal services.
Effective 1 February 2008, PricewaterhouseCoopers will integrate the Legal business operated by its associated firm PwCLegal into the broader PricewaterhouseCoopers partnership under a MDP structure. The legal services offering of the MDP will initially be based in NSW and Victoria and in due course will be expanded to other States.
Under the new structure all legal partners and employees previously operating in PwCLegal will join PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia.
“We have been working towards this for some time to bring more value to our clients. The newly formed MDP provides our clients with seamless access to specialist legal expertise in areas of Corporate and Commercial, Employment and Industrial Relations, Tax Controversy, Environment, Property and Litigation, as well as new areas of legal practice such as Corporate Tax consulting services,” said Leigh Minehan Deputy CEO, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
“The move to a single partnership model for the delivery of both legal and non-legal services aligns with PwC's global legal strategy of providing legal services that complement the firm's core tax, advisory and assurance offerings. Additionally, the move will further enhance PwC's ability to provide its clients with end to end solutions as well as simplify their acquisition of professional services", said Andrew Wheeler, Leader Legal Services.
Hugh Macken, the President of the NSW Law Society said "PwC’s move is unique in terms of the scale, depth and breadth of its legal service offerings in a multi-disciplinary environment. The market for legal services in Australia is sophisticated, and I am sure many organisations will appreciate the benefits of receiving both legal and non-legal services from the one provider."
The firms of the PricewaterhouseCoopers global network (www.pwc.com) provide industry-focused assurance, tax and advisory services to build public trust and enhance value for clients and their stakeholders.
