NCVO Foster Kids Receive Gift

A dash of competition and a sprinkle of generosity are the magic ingredients in this year’s PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Christmas donation - $2,200 to benefit the ten children living at the National Council of Voluntary Organisation’s (NCVO) foster home.

“We’re thankful to PwC for their staff competition and the resulting donation,” said NCVO Chief Executive Officer Janice Wilson.

“They’ve raised enough money to allow our foster kids to spend their Christmas morning tearing open gifts. It’s very exciting!”

Each child will receive $100 worth of gifts from the PwC donation. The remaining funds will buy much-needed equipment for Miss Nadine’s Pre-School and Jack and Jill Nursery and help fund the monthly NCVO Citizenship award.

Every Christmas, the staff and management of PwC participate in a fundraising competition where every dollar raised is matched by the firm and donated to a local charity.

“It’s fun and a good way to instantly double the funds,” said Courtney Phipps from PwC. “Each year we all divide into teams and compete to see who can raise the most money in a given period of time, the firm then matches every dollar we manage to raise. It’s surprising how motivating a little friendly competition can be.”

Mr Phipps added: “At the end of the day, it’s not just about how much money we can raise. It’s about that extra bit of joy and magic that these ten kids will hopefully get when they open up their gifts this Christmas.”
