Corporate Governance: Demand for improvement

PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Cyprus Association of Directors organised a lunch presentation on Corporate Governance at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia on Tuesday, 27 June 2006. PwC's aim is to develop a dialogue concerning accounting and professional ethics as well as corporate governance, which constitute a demand for improvement for modern businesses.

Addresses were made by the Minister of Commerce, Industry & Tourism, Mr Antonis Michaelides, Mr Dinos Kittis - President of the Cyprus Association of Directors, Mr Akis Cleanthous - Chairman of the Cyprus Stock Exchange and Mr Phidias Pilides - Chief Executive Officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers Cyprus.

Mrs Demetra Kalogerou, Chief Officer, Admission and Continuous Obligations of Companies, Cyprus Stock Exchange presented the new changes in the Code of Corporate Governance and part of the results of the survey carried out by the Cyprus Stock Exchange regarding compliance to the Code of Corporate Governance by Cyprus listed companies.
