CEO of Turkey's H.Ö. Sabancı Group A.Ş.— which controls some 70 companies in markets as diverse as automobiles, cement, energy, retail, insurance, telecom, textiles, tires, plastic, hotels, paper and tobacco — Ahmet Dördüncü offers his view on such key topics as collaboration, climate change, risk, the global economy, and regulation, among others.
On the subject of collaboration, for instance, Mr. Dördüncü is quite forthright: "Collaboration" he says " . . . and interdependence create efficiencies that benefit all concerned. But being dependent on others can increase a company’s exposure to a range of risks including those associated with reputation, regulatory compliance, earnings performance, and credibility." Above all else, he goes on "Successful collaboration requires that each party see the other as a true partner and their alliance as a win-win situation. They must also demonstrate mutual trust of and respect for each other’s competencies, be willing to share fairly the benefits, burdens, and risks inherent in the relationship, and have a clear understanding of how they will work together."
