The automotive industry is the prime driver of the growth
of the Slovak economy. Concerning the inflow of foreign
investments, the automotive sector is still the most
progressive sector of the country’s economy, and further
increases can be expected in the upcoming years. Currently,
Slovakia’s three carmakers, VOLKSWAGEN, PSA and KIA,
have a production capacity of up to 1 million cars.
Slovakia’s economic performance in 2006 was outstanding.
We expect Slovakia to attract further investments in the
coming years, especially in the automotive supplier industry.
One of the challenges will be to find the right people, as
skilled labour is scarce and competition for it is increasing.
However, Slovakia’s strategic position within Europe, its
attractive taxes and incentives, make it a very competitive
investment destination.
