Henry H. Ketcham
Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer,

Hank Ketcham was appointed to his current position at West Fraser Timber in 1996. He joined the company in 1973 as a Lumber Shipper, and subsequently held the positions of increasing responsibility as Sawmill General Manager and Vice President, Administration.

He is also a Director of the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC); Founding Member, Forest Alliance of British Columbia; Former Chairman of the Council of Forest Industries (3 terms); Director, Toronto Dominion Bank; and Former Director, St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.

Mr. Ketcham graduated from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, 1972. B.A. Sociology.


Jimmy Lee
Chief Executive Officer,
Mercer International Inc.

After graduating as a chemical engineer in 1981, Mr. Lee worked for two years as a process engineer for FMC Canada Ltd. in their chloro-alkali plant located in Squamish, British Columbia.

In conjunction with several other individuals, Mr. Lee founded Asiamerica Capital Ltd. in 1984. Asiamerica Capital later acquired control of Pacific West Realty Trust, which then became Mercer International Inc.

From 1984 to 1990, Mercer invested in undervalued assets in industries varying from property and casualty insurance to an iron ore royalty stream in Newfoundland. Through such activities, the company grew from an equity base of $1 million to in excess of $90 million. Subsequent to the unification of East and West Germany, Mercer focused its activities primarily in pulp and paper resulting in the acquisition of Dresden Papier in 1993 and the Rosenthal pulp mill in 1994. In 1996, all non-pulp and paper activities were spun off to shareholders in a dividend distribution and this separate entity continues to operate as a merchant-banking firm with its own management. Mr. Lee spearheaded the Rosenthal expansion and conversion and the Stendal mill project, which commenced operation in the 3rd quarter of 2004. The first quarter of 2005, Mercer acquired its first Canadian mill, Zellstoff Celgar. On a consolidated basis, Mercer presently has approximately 1.3 million tonnes per annum of market NBSK pulp capacity.

Mr. Lee has been a board member of Mercer International since 1985 and President and CEO since 1992.


Andrew Miller

Andrew Miller is CEO of the Stimson Lumber Company, a privately-held forest products and natural resource company based in Portland, Oregon, USA. With roots dating back to the 1850’s, the company is one of the oldest, continuously operating forest products companies in the United States.

Stimson Lumber has assets and operations in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington states. The Resource Group manages approximately 500,000 acres of company-owned timberland, consistent with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Standard.


José L. D. Penido

José Luciano Penido is CEO of VCP – Votorantim Celulose e Papel, one of the major pulp & paper producers in Latin America. He is former CEO of Samarco Mineração S.A., a leading mining company in Brazil.

In his social initiative undertakings, Mr. Penido is counselor of Ethos Institute (Enterprises & Social Responsibility) and member of the Curator Board of Fundação Dom Cabral.

Mr. Penido’s graduation certificate in Mining Engineering is from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. He has been married for 34 years and is father of 4 grown children.

Bruce I. McIntyre

Bruce McIntyre is a Partner and Canadian Leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Global Forest, Paper and Packaging practice. He is also the Canadian leader of PwC’s Sustainable Business Solutions practice, which includes responsibility for strategy consulting, management systems certification, and corporate responsibility report assurance services.

Mr. McIntyre joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1986 following several years in resource management positions in industry and government. He has conducted numerous business reviews, management system assessments, financial studies and competitive benchmarking and performance improvement projects. Bruce earned his Bachelor of Science in Forestry degree from the University of British Columbia in 1977. He is a Registered Professional Forester in British Columbia and a Certified Forester with the Society of American Foresters. He completed his Masters in Business Administration at Queen’s University in 1986 and qualified as a Certified Management Consultant in 1989. Bruce is also qualified as an environmental/sustainable forest management lead auditor.

Robert Barnden became the Global Leader, Forest, Paper and Packaging Practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP on July 1, 2005. He is based in Stockholm, Sweden and is the lead audit partner on various forest, paper and packaging clients. He has numerous years experience in the sector and provides strategic direction to the Global Practice.
