Consul general Lewis Lukens
United States consulate general in Vancouver
Prior to his assignment as Consul general to Vancouver, Lewis Lukens served as Executive secretary at the US Embassy Baghdad, managing the office that served as the nexus between policy and management issues in Iraq. From 2003 to 2004 Mr. Lukens served as Management officer at the US Embassy Dublin, responsible for operational management of the embassy during a time that coincided with Ireland’s EU Presidency.

Mr. Lukens served in Washington from 1999 to 2002, first in the State Department’s Executive Secretariat, then in the White House as Deputy executive secretary and Senior director for administration at the National Security Council.

Mr. Lukens’ previous assignments include postings in Sydney, Australia; Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire; and Guangzhou, China; as well as work in the State Department’s Operations Center and as Special assistant to the Director general of the foreign service.

Mr. Lukens received a Masters in public policy from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 2003. While at the Wilson School he concentrated in National security policy and Public sector management, and served as Academic-athletic mentor to the men’s lightweight rowing team. He also received his BA from Princeton, majoring in history.
