Kingston, Jamaica, 30 June 2004 - In pursuit of its strategy of providing a full suite of services in the areas of Assurance, Advisory and Tax to the Jamaican business community through the deployment of a multi-disciplinary cadre of partners and professional staff, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) today announced the admission of Bruce L. Scott and Brian J. Denning to the partnership, with effect from 1 July 2004.
Bruce will be responsible for PwC's growing practice in the areas of internal audit services, information technology risk management and business continuity planning while Brian will be the second partner in the firm's Tax Practice, specialising in international tax, financial services and telecommunications.
"As Jamaican businesses become more technologically driven, there is an increased demand for services such as information technology risk assurance and business continuity planning and this step is a response to those needs," said Everton McDonald, Territory Senior Partner. "Demand is growing and the firm has already undertaken several major assignments in this area which have been managed by Bruce."
On the subject of the need for a second tax partner, McDonald added that while Jamaica was not generally regarded as a tax compliant environment, he did not expect that this would continue beyond the near future and the firm was positioning itself to provide increased tax services to businesses and individuals, particularly in the areas of tax planning and advisory services.
"As Jamaican businesses establish operations in neighbouring Caribbean countries and while companies from other Caribbean nations such as Barbados and Trinidad &Tobago do more and more business in Jamaica, we have identified and serviced many of their tax planning and advisory needs and the admission of Brian only strengthens our capabilities in this regard," continued McDonald.
