| Michael Armstrong is a Director in the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Global Forest, Paper and Packaging Practice in Vancouver. He is a Registered Professional Forester and a Chartered Accountant. After graduating in 1993 from the University of British Columbia, he was an Assistant Forster with Canadian Forest Products in Port Mellon. Michael has been with PwC for ten years including five years in the Ottawa office.He has worked on a variety of forestry related projects while at PwC; for example, he assisted the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources with their submission to the United States in relation to the Softwood Lumber Dispute, led an assessment of the financial state of the three forest research institutes in Canada (Forintek, FERIC, and Paprican), conducted over 20 forest management audits (SFI) in the United States and conducted a review of the application process for the Softwood Industry Community Economic Adjustment Initiative for Western Economic Diversification Canada. Since its inception, Michael has been the project manager for PwC’s administration of the British Columbia Forest Investment Account – Forest Science Program. His role includes the administration of the annual $12.0 million call for proposals and the monitoring of the funded projects. Michael is an ex-officio member of the Forest Science Board, a member of the finance committee for the Association of BC Forest Professionals and a member of the Canadian Institute of Forestry. |
