Global workforce mobility and expatriate planning

Today's environment is characterized by unprecedented pressure from regulators, external stakeholders, senior management and board members. It demands that you proactively manage all of your international assignment issues, from compliance risks to program management, and that you have the built-in capability to meaningfully assess performance results. Cost control and the efficient employment of technology are two other extremely important issues. The cost of an assignment can be surprisingly high, often as much as two to three times the average assignee's base salary. Finding ways to reduce this cost is of tremendous importance to your organization.

In order to remain competitive in today's complex global business environment, you must employ appropriate tax and payroll planning and will need to provide a globally coordinated, technology-enhanced compliance program to address the needs of your organization. You also must keep track of tax return filing requirements and payroll reporting and withholding for mobile employees who cross borders during the vesting period of an award (corporate incentive). If your company is expanding into a new territory, you will need to implement new processes and procedures.
