Summer Internships & Work Shadow Programmes

Summer Internship Programme

Our Summer Internship Programme provides high-calibre, penultimate-year undergraduates with an opportunity to experience work and life at PwC, offering a valuable insight into our business and culture.

We offer a limited number of internship opportunities in the same business areas as our graduate training programmes:

Whichever of these you choose, you will be given a real taste of life at the heart of the firm, working alongside graduate trainees and experienced professionals on live and interesting client projects.

When and where do they run?

Our internship programme commences on the 16th of June 2008 and lasts for ten weeks. Opportunities are available at our Dublin office in Spencer Dock.

Who should apply?

If you are in the penultimate year of your degree, then you have the opportunity to apply for our internship programme. It doesn't matter if you feel that you're not studying for a 'relevant' degree - our business areas welcome students from any degree discipline.

What will you do?

As an intern, you'll work in much the same way as the graduates who join our training programme. During your time with us, you will be exposed to a wide range of work and clients, and will be expected to make a valuable contribution throughout.

If that sounds daunting, don't worry, you won't be thrown in at the deep end straightaway. Your programme will start with in-depth induction training, which will take place in Spencer Dock, where you will also have the opportunity to meet all other interns joining us. The induction programme will provide both general business skills and specific technical training, designed to give you all the skills you'll need to fulfil your responsibilities.

It will prove a steep learning curve and you may feel stretched at times, but we'll provide all the support you need. For instance, you will have a 'buddy' to answer your questions and to help with your development and you'll receive regular feedback on your performance.

How will you benefit?

Most importantly, our summer internship is designed to give you a real-life view of what a graduate career with PwC would be like. You'll be able to learn first hand if this is the career for you.

Beyond this, our aim is to raise both your commercial awareness and your interpersonal skills to new levels. By experiencing life inside the world's leading professional services firm, you will develop many new skills and qualities that will be valuable for your future career.

Work Shadow Programme

During this week you’ll literally get to ‘shadow’ our people throughout their working day in Assurance, Tax and Advisory. There’s no better way of getting to understand the demands and challenges that PwC people face. You will gain a first hand insight into an audit engagement, discover how we advise our clients on critical tax issues and see how we make certain that our clients have adequate controls in place to mitigate the many risks facing their business’.

The Work Shadow Programme will be held from Monday August 25 2008 to Friday August 29 2008.

Application & selection

The Summer Internship and Work Shadow application and selection process is similar to that of our graduate positions in that you will need to complete an on-line application form.

Visit our ‘apply now’ page to find out more.

On-line applications will open on Monday December 17 2007.

Application closing date is Wednesday February 13 2008.
