Assurance: What We Do

External Audit and Related Services

Our audit practice provides independent assurance to clients on the financial performance of their businesses and the internal control that govern their financial information. Our audit teams ask the tough questions and tackle the tough issues to produce financial statements that investors and the investing community can trust. Services provided include our core financial statement and internal control audits, as well as services such as: benefit plan audits, business and performance reporting, and social, environmental, and other compliance reviews.

Systems and Process Assurance (SPA)

While the Systems and Process Assurance (SPA) group has been an important part of our PwC Assurance practice for 30 years, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 has placed a renewed focus on Internal Controls. To best meet that demand, PwC has been aggressively growing our SPA team. SPA is primarily responsible for providing the controls focus to all of our engagements including our Integrated Audits. This group of professionals provides relevant knowledge in the area of Information Technology General Controls - those controls that form the foundation of any complex IT environment. SPA is also responsible for understanding and evaluating the controls over Business Processes. These controls range from manual reconciliations to highly complex systematic controls that require specialized expertise. Our professionals hold degrees in Accounting, Accounting/MIS, MIS/Finance, and Computer Science, among others. The diversity of our practice allows us to leverage the existing skill set in an individual while allowing him/her to develop skills in other areas.
