The Advisory team works with clients across all industries and sectors.

There are opportunities for Graduates and Summer Interns in five specialised business units within Advisory.

Read on for more detail on each team and the nature of the work you might be involved in.

Private Client Services (PCS)

PCS is business advisory services with a difference. We focus on building great relationships with our clients so that we can become trusted advisors.

We help business owners run and develop their business and meet their compliance obligations by helping them with:
  • Management and financial accounting
  • Financial and tax compliance
  • Structuring advice
  • Financial modelling (forecasts, projections, budgets, scenario planning)
  • Business process documentation and re-engineering
  • Strategic planning
  • Statutory reporting
  • Business valuations
  • Capital-raising
  • Management buy outs, divestments and mergers & acquisitions.
PCS clients range from family owned businesses, wealthy individuals, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors to large multinationals with a presence in New Zealand, or those looking to establish a presence here.

There is a strong client service approach and team members will spend time working at client’s offices. Some of our clients are foreign-owned so client contacts may be overseas. There is also the possibility for international secondments within PCS, as the experience people gain working in this area is in high demand.

People who are good communicators, flexible, who can think differently and who can work in small teams are suited to the broad range of work in Private Client Services. It’s a social working environment and people come from a variety of backgrounds.

Business Recovery Services (BRS)

BRS assists clients to tackle financial under-performance and improve the bottom line of a business. If you join this team your work is likely to be varied – we are involved in areas such as helping a business improve its cash flow; advising lenders; helping owners exit a business; insolvency, liquidations and receiverships; statutory management; business appraisals; the selling of businesses; reorganising a corporation’s structure; appearing as expert witnesses in disputes; and investigations and forensic services.
The members of the BRS team generally come from finance, law and/or accounting backgrounds. Good communications skills are required as there is a lot of face-to-face client interaction.

Many of our clients are in the financial services industry, or major corporations and law firms. The majority of work is carried out at the PwC offices but there are times when a group is required to work at a client. The work is very challenging so there is strong focus on teamwork and support. Due to the varied nature of the work and the wide range of roles that team members are asked to perform, a practical, "can-do" attitude is essential.
