Aspire 2008

There is no standard ‘PwC Person’; we don’t look for clones, we work in teams, not flocks! That’s the beauty of having such a broad range of work; different skill requirements mean everyone here is different, through degree disciplines, backgrounds and personal interests. This diversity is our strength, it’s our combined skills and strengths as individuals that make our Firm, and the individuals within it, succeed. Inevitably though, there are a few fairly uniform requirements. Read on to see who fits where.

GRADUATE AND SUMMER INTERN POSITIONS

If you’d like to apply for a
Graduate position, you’ll be in your final year of university study or have recently completed your degree. You’ll start with PwC in mid 2008, or at the start of 2009.

If it’s a Summer Intern position, you’re interested in, you’re probably in your second or third year of university study. As one of our Summer Interns you’ll get the chance to experience working through the 2008/09 summer with us, and get a taste of what starting your full-time career here will be like.

ACADEMIC STRENGTHS

Whether you’re an aspiring Graduate or Summer Intern, you’re probably majoring in one of the following: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Commerce, Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Law, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Taxation and Revenue. For many areas, it’s an advantage to be doing a degree that meets the requirements of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA).

PERSONAL QUALITIES

You’re aspiring to succeed and you’ll need to be able to let us see that, and be confident in highlighting your achievements. Communication is key in our collaborative and open environment; that’s how strong relationships are established, so you’ll need to share ideas and information with your colleagues and with your clients clearly and easily. It goes without saying that you’re motivated and hungry to make the most of all we can offer, and we’d like to know that you’re up for a challenge.

Basically, it’s a given that you’re smart and doing well at your studies, but if you are interested in the world around you and like learning, if you enjoy people and like rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in, you sound like one of us.
